Welcome to Sulawesi Island
The peninsula of Sulawesi – once known as the Celebes – reaches out into the Sulawesi, Banda, Maluku, and Flores Seas. Within its odd, contorted outlines – the product of ancient continents – are extraordinary landscapes. Rugged mist-covered mountains, tropical rainforests, rice terraces, deep lakes, coral reefs encircling dormant volcanoes, white sandy beaches fringed with coconut trees, and scattered Bajau villages flanked by rugged limestone outcroppings promise a real exciting adventure.
